The Religious is a man of God, and therefore a man of prayer. He, therefore, will have God as his first and principal interlocutor of his day.

Our Vocation and Formation

A vocation is a gift from God. A vocation to the Clerics Regular Minor (Adorno Fathers and Brothers) is a particular call of God to place one’s life at the service of the Church according to the Charism of our Founders. Membership in our community affords men the opportunity to serve God through parish work, missionary activities, retreat works and teaching. As a family, we strive to share with one another the joys and sorrows of everyday life. As a religious, the candidate may pursue the priestly life, brother or permanent deacon.

Formation

Formation with the Clerics Regular Minor begins with the period of postulancy. During this time, a candidate is helped to cultivate his baptismal grace, to discern more clearly and with greater certainty his own vocation, and to acquire the virtues and attitudes for following the call of the Lord.

The second period of formation in our Order is a year of novitiate. It is a period of grace and trial, during which the novice deepen more clearly their knowledge of their vocation in our Order, and experience its way of life. In the novitiate, the vows, the constitutions, the spirituality, the purpose and the history of the Clerics Regular Minor are well treated, so that the novices may know and live our Charism, which should be the soul of their religious life.

Upon completion of the novitiate, the candidate professes the religious vows of chastity, poverty, obedience and not seeking after Ecclesiastical honors. This simple or first profession of vows lasts three years. During this time, the professed religious deepens his spiritual life in the ORder and also becomes involved in some apostolate in our parishes.

Solemn Profession of vows is the highest and most complete of consecration to God in the service of the Church, and of full aggregation in our religious family. It is a sign of the spousal love that indissolubly unites Christ to the Church, His spouse.

If you are interested in becoming an Adorno priest or brother, please fill out the printed form and send it via mail to the address given below. This, however, does not mean an automatic acceptance to our Order. This form will help us determine whether or not you will fit in the kind of ministry and Charism we have

Our Way of Life

Any vocation, whether it be marriage, single blessedness or the priesthood and religious life is a gift from God.

One’s vocation is ultimately rooted in the universal baptismal call to holiness. Holiness is linked to the imitation of Christ in our lives. We try to follow Christ in thought, in word and in deed.

A vocation to the Adorno Fathers and Brothers is a particular call of God to place one’s life at the service of the Church, according to the Charism of our Founders.

Becoming a part of our community affords men the opportunity to serve God through parish work, missionary activities, retreat work and teaching.

As a family, we strive to share with one another the joys and sorrows of everyday life. Our Order is open to those who are called by God to embrace the religious life. As religious, the candidate may pursue the life of a priest, brother or permanent deacon.

Called to holiness with the religious consecration for the glory of the Almighty and for the salvation of souls, the Clerics Regular Minor carry out the journey of perfection in community where common is God, common the commitment to perfection, common the difficulties, common the work, common the salvation, common in the end will be the glory.

The religious community is first of all a mystery, which must be contemplated, accepted and lived with faith and grateful hearts. Source of our common life is the spirit of the Risen Lord, who, when present in us, transforms gradually our hearts and renders possible staying together in charity.

“What you contemplate in prayer, preach to the people”

The apostolate of the Clerics Regular Minor springs from his consecration to God and is characterized by the centrality of the paschal mystery realized in the Eucharist. The Word of God and the Eucharist are the two tables, which the Clerics Regular Minor must offer to humanity, hungry and thirsty for truth and life.

The Founders did not leave us a specific field for the apostolate. However, they stated that “there must be in our Order those who hear confessions, preach, teach and engage in other spiritual exercises for their own sanctification and that of their fellow man”.

They themselves and their followers were busy in various fields of pastoral ministry: from preaching to parochial service, from liturgical worship to missions, from teaching to spiritual assistance to the sick and those in jail, with particular attention to the poor and marginalized members of society.  For these, their promotion and their spiritual needs, we must also show special preference. Those who fast in bread and water have an additional responsibility while giving their portion to the poor at the door, that is, to teach them our Christian faith.

For the greater glory of the Risen Lord, the Clerics Regular Minor work in the Church without a preference for any particular activity and respond to the needs of the people of God as circumstances dictates. However, they have to approach all types of apostolate in a specific way: everything must flow from the Eucharist and return to it.

1. Pre-Novitiate Formation

Those who ask to enter in our Order, after the necessary vocation discernment, will be received in our houses of formation. The time the pre-novitiate in our tradition and in our Constitutions is divided in two phases.

  1. In the first phase (aspirancy) we must underline particularly the human and Christian formation of the candidates so that they will be helped to recognize their vocation and respond to it whatever be the will of God for them
  2. In the second phase (postulancy) the candidates will be helped to cultivate their baptismal grace, to discern more clearly and with greater certainty their vocation and to attain the virtues and develop the attitudes to follow the call of the Lord in our Order; in this phase care must be taken that the candidates be formed in a deeper way to the religious and charismatic dimensions in our Order.

2. The Novitiate Formation

A one year novitiate is the second period of formation in our Order. It is a period of grace and trial, during which the novices deepen more clearly their knowledge of their vocation in our Order, and experience its style of life. In the novitiate, the vows, the Constitutions, the spirituality, the purpose and the history of the Adorno Fathers and brothers are well treated, so that the novices may know and live our Charism, which should be the soul of their religious life.

Upon completion of the novitiate, the candidate professes the religious vows of chastity, poverty, obedience and not seeking after ecclesiastical honors. This simple or first profession lasts three years. During this time, the professed religious deepens his spiritual life in the Order and also become involved in some apostolate in our parishes. The first profession of vows can be renewed for a longer period of time.

Solemn Profession is the highest and most complete expression of consecration to God in the service of the Church, and of full aggregation in our religious family. It is the sign of the spousal love that indissolubly unites Christ to the Church, his spouse.

The common vocation for all the baptized is the call to holiness.

Every Christian vocation is a gratuitous and mysterious gift of God and is at the service of the growth in holiness and grace of each Christian and of the whole Church.

Some of the baptized are called to the religious life in which they make their own the way of life personally practiced by Christ and proposed by Him to the disciples and, among these, some are called to consecrate themselves to the Lord in the family of the Clerics Regular Minor (Adorno Fathers).

The Church, aware of being an assembly of called and brought together, a true mysterium vocationis, helps every baptized to discover one’s vocation and to respond to it generously.
