Our confrere Angelo Aprea, of our parish “St. Francis Caracciolo” in Naples, was ordained Deacon by Bishop Lorenzo Loppa in the Cathedral of Maria SS. Annunziata in the city of the Popes – Anagni, during the vigil Mass for the twenty-ninth Sunday of Ordinary Time (Saturday, October 19, 2019). Brother Angelo was ordained together with a permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Anagni – Alatri. At the Pontifical Mass there were some diocesan priests and many of our Caracciolini confreres led by our Very Reverend Father Teodoro O. Kalaw CRM – Superior Gen- eral, representing all the Delegations of the Caracciolini Fathers: Italian, American-Filipino, African and Indian-Germany. From S. Angelo in Pescheria: Reverend Fathers Teodoro Kalaw, Pierpaolo, Fernando and Giampaolo participated. From the Parish of the Guardian Angels: Fathers Joby, Giuseppe Lucarelli, Norbert, Sebastian, Jaison and the Brothers Moise and Floribert particpated. From Anagni: Fathers Florent, Gilbert, Donatus and Brother Carmine. From Naples: Father Felice and Brother Serafino participated. From Villa Santa Maria: Fr. Benjamin. From Roccamontepiano: Frs. Giulio and Shino. From the African Delegation: Fr. Jean-Claude and Aimable. From the US- Philippine Delegation: Frs. Jason Caganap, Liam, Melvin and Edgardo. Some of them were present, in the same city, to participate in the Adorno Fathers Course on the theme of the “Ratio Formationis”, organized by our Order. They were moments well lived with the confreres of the whole Order.
At the ordination, numerous relatives of Brother Angelo and friends were present, also from far away, who attended the celebration accompanied by a very good choir. During the homily, the Bishop emphasized the need for constant prayer, referring to the widow, the protagonist of the Gos- pel of Sunday and reaffirming the importance of the quality of our prayer. Immediately after the Rite of Ordination, Bishop Loppa gave a teaching on the meaning of the Diaconia: “Remember the poor!” Remembering, clearly means serving! Serving the poor does not only mean serving them materially or spiritually, but also serving the suffering people, who are in solitude, etc. This point is the basis of the Church’s service. We have the Orders of the Diaconate, the Priesthood and the Epis- copate. We are all called to serve God and his people. This is the great meaning of Christian life.”
We have experienced moving moments of fraternity between the Aprea family and the Caracciolini Family. We now have an Italian deacon confrere! This reminds us of the Italian origin of the Order. For this reason, during the days of preparation, we prayed for Italian vocations. As the Gospel of the day has taught us, we are called to pray…pray…and pray…Our Lord will surely send us good and holy workers for the people of God so as to do his service.
