In Tagaytay, Philippines, Bishop Roberto O. Gaa, DD, the Bishop of Novaliches, honored the Adorno Community’s gathering at the St. Scholastica Center of Spirituality for their 3rd Delegation Chapter. It’s a significant event as it gears up for the 64th General Chapter of the Adorno Fathers in Rome, scheduled for July 2024.
The heart of this gathering revolves around a theme taken from the book of Micah 6:8; “Walk Humbly With Your God.” This concept sets the tone for discussions and deliberations during the Chapter, which spans from May 6-10, 2024.
During these days, the Chapter Fathers, representatives of the Adorno Fathers, assemble to address crucial matters concerning the Order. A pivotal part of their agenda involves examining the annual and triennial reports from each religious house within the delegation. This process aids in evaluating past endeavors and shaping future initiatives.
Moreover, the Chapter serves as a platform for the US-Philippines delegation to formulate and sanction proposals slated for presentation at the impending General Chapter in Rome. These proposals carry the aspirations and concerns of the delegation, aiming to contribute positively to the broader discourse within the Order.
Bishop Gaa invoked the guidance of the Holy Spirit upon the Chapter Fathers, acknowledging the importance of divine discernment in their decision-making process. Such invocation underscores the spiritual dimension inherent in their proceedings, recognizing the need for divine wisdom and guidance.
Following the opening ceremony, the Chapter Fathers wasted no time and commenced their sessions. Among their initial tasks was the election of two scrutineers and two examiners, along with the appointment of a secretary and a deputy secretary. These roles are important in ensuring the smooth conduct of the Chapter, facilitating discussions, and maintaining accurate records of proceedings.
In the midst of their responsibilities, the Chapter Fathers humbly request the prayers of those they minister to. This reciprocal gesture symbolizes the interconnectedness between the religious community and the people they serve, emphasizing mutual support and solidarity in prayers and spiritual endeavors.
As the Chapter unfolds, it embodies a collective journey of reflection, discernment, and action. Guided by the principle of humility and fortified by prayer, the Chapter Fathers strive to steer the Clerics Regular Minor (Adorno Fathers) towards a path aligned with their shared values and mission according to the Constitution and Rules of the Order.
